I read it in the news today, "6000 layoffs" on the way.

I took another cut in pay again. Guess I'm just a lucky one, ya think?

 

Would you right the wrongs, just by one song and then, never pass the chance to stick it to The Man.

Were you the conscience of a nation, and the Soul of America?

 

So here's to Guthrie. Man, I raise my glass up to your name,

And the wild West Texas wind that sent you rambling to L.A.

 

You know, I can't help imagining if in another lifetime, on the way, I passed you by.
